Year of the Dragon

My new ice cream cup!  A week late, but Happy (Chinese) New Year to all. :)

Cheap parents who don't turn on the heat very high

Pretty sure this means the cats think the house is too cold. ;-)

Top bunk

A week or two ago we put the boys down at the Jodoin's house so we could hang out late. Logan got to sleep on the top bunk in Robert's room and loved it. He has been talking about sleeping on his own top bunk since.

This last weekend, we visited the Jodoins again and that solidified Logan's campaign to beg to sleep on his own top bunk.

So, last night we caved in and set him up. He did really well and felt so big boy proud when he woke this morning. :)

Tonight, Callum discovered something new with the ladder in place, and Logan really wanted to show him his new pad. So, they spent some time playing on the top bunk together while I supervised. ;-)  It was actually pretty cute, as they both pulled up the blankets to their chests, sitting together, talking, imagining...doing what they do best.

Picture scene

I'd say this is probably the first of Logan's pictures that depicts an actual scene (where others besides Logan know what's going on, that is!).

Can you make out what's going on?

I'll give you a hint. ;-)

He's drawn a house, with a window and grass beside it. He drew a sun in the sky, as well as one that is setting. Once he drew the one that was setting, he also drew a moon (on top of the sun in the sky).  Finally, he added clouds with raindrops coming down (over the house) and then signed his masterpiece! ;-)

On Parenthood

I love this graph.  The post that accompanies it (on the topic of parenthood) is pretty damn good too.

Jon's been doing really well - recovering a little bit more every day.  He's still hobbling around like an old man, and groans whenever he coughs or laughs, but he's definitely on the mend.

I, on the other hand, have barely been hanging on.  I've been in "survival mode" as my PT puts it, this past week.  Work is extremely busy, and waiting on my husband has been a tiny bit draining.  But, the worst of it all was Callum decided to start teething.  Literally, TO. THE. DAY. that Jon was cut open (and lo and behold couldn't pick up the kids anymore).

Callum has had his last four teeth (the canines) missing for a very long time - I don't remember how long but it's probably been at least 6 months, if not longer.  So late last week, those remaining four teeth decided to come in.  All at once.  Poor guy is in uncomfortable pain, crying out without any warning at all, wanting to be held at all hours of the day and night.  And, I've got no one to help me juggle it all.

So yeah, love these little boogers to the point that I wouldn't hesitate to throw myself or Jon under a bus to save one of them, but I'd say this last week has definitely been one of the bigger pains in my asses.  :)

Just add sideburns after naptime and voila!

Daddy is all better now!

I forgot to post this earlier in the week but it's a fun pic. Jon had hernia surgery Thursday morning, and this was him, still stoned as hell, just after he woke up. ;-)

I'm only a couple of days in and already exasperated with the now one-two-THREE kids I'm taking care of. It's like they're all in sync and start whining and yelling and demanding at the EXACT. SAME. TIME. Oy.

:D

That said, Jon is actually doing really well. He's been walking and doing laps around the house to keep his movement up and helps me where he can. He's still super sore but I'm sure that'll get better soon. I'm just glad it's done and now we can get on with our lives!

Best Buds

Both boys have enjoyed having Amelia (and Trent) visiting this weekend. Eric actually snapped this shot and I love both of their expressions so much!

This morning, I had both boys in my bed with me watching some TV while Jon was at the dog park with Grover. When Amelia came put of their room, Logan immediately called out, "Amelia, we're in here. Do you want to watch some TV? Come up in the bed with us!"

(Poor guy assumes she always wants to hang out with him). ;-)

Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo

Just hanging out on top of a frog, a usual Saturday for us.  ;-)

BBB

Bath time, books and then bed. :D

Definitely not shy!

The Cables are visiting for the weekend and the kids are all having so much fun playing and hanging out!

Jill wasn't sure if this was normal for Logan, but I assured her it was. :) He starts by standing next to the chair and inch by inch, slowly makes his way into her lap, smothering her completely. I've explained Logan doesn't know the definition of personal space.

We've found it pretty funny for sure, how relaxed and comfortable he has immediately been with everyone. :)

Grasshopper turned teacher

Logan is teaching my cousin's son, who's 9 ;-) how to play one of his fave games, Where's my Water?

Loganism of the day

As I'm watching Logan play Angry Birds on his iPad, I offered some advice on one of the levels. He says:

Don't worry Mom. I'm going to win.

(And he did)

Look who got into Mommy's makeup!

A Fall bike ride

Went for a bike ride/walk (Callum was in the stroller) earlier today. It was great to get outside for a bit! :)

First Crush

On Saturday, while we were visiting at my parent's house, I mentioned to Logan that it was Zabuton's birthday tomorrow.

My Dad asked Logan, "Do you know how old I'm going to be?"

Logan thought long and hard for a minute, and then said,

Eighteen!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night, we went out to dinner for my Dad's birthday (Happy Birthday Zabuton!) with my parents, my brother Zane and his girlfriend Norma.  At the end of the evening, Logan got very excited telling Norma all about the latest iPad games he is addicted to (Angry Birds, Where's My Water?, Fruit Ninja and Cover Orange).  He asked Norma and Zane several times if they wanted to come over to our house to play with him, but we said it was too late and they'd have to come visit another time.
So, Logan asked about Norma all morning today.  I finally texted Zane to see if they'd come over - Zane replied that he'd check with Norma.  I told Logan this, to which he said,
I think she'll say yes.  Because I like her, and she's beautiful.
And THEN he says,
But don't tell anyone Mom, because it's a secret!
Awwww.  His first crush!  :)
Happy New Year!
While it may be winter, we've been having a few sunny and pleasant days where the boys are enjoying the outdoors.
Logan is also IN LOVE with the long holiday vacation they've had (their school has been closed since Christmas Eve and won't be open again until this Tuesday).  Every morning, Logan wakes up and asks if it's another "stay home" day - and when we reply yes, he literally jumps for joy.  ;-)
All set to test out his new ride!
I'm gonna get you Mama! (He is actually VERY fast!)  :)
