Summer House Rules

I decided to post house rules last week to kick off our summer. I really wanted to make sure we have a way to control the often out-of-control screen time that the kids can get themselves into. So, I put these together, with their buy in!

It hasn't taken long for the boys to try and figure out a workaround. Surprisingly, Callum is the main leader in this category. Last week, he told me he was going to skip #4 as his pass due to summer camp. I okay'd it and within seconds he said, I've also completed #3 since my summer camp was several hours of ceramics. Damn it!!

This morning, he came to me to show me a few drawings he had worked on, and said Mom, I spent 30 minutes working on these sketches. Let me show you....

I said those are great!! He then said, Oh btw - I worked on them outside in the backyard, so I've spent 30 minutes outside too! 🤣🤣🤣

Chef Callum

Tonight was Callum's turn to cook the family dinner.  He made us penne arrabiata with garlic bread, and Fanta floats for dessert!!  It was deeeelish!  :)

Chef Logan

One of Logan's chores this week was to cook dinner for the family. He made us nachos, followed by root beer floats for dessert! Yum! 😁👌🏼

Sleepover

On a last minute whim, I decided to let Logan invite three of his best buddies over for a sleepover.  He's been looking forward to the end of school, yet at the same time has been sad that two of his three friends won't be going to the same school next year and is worried he'll lose touch.

These kids are all so great.  They spend way too much time on screens - but what kid at this age doesn't these days?  They also spent a lot of time chatting all night after configuring the couches in some ginormous "bed" set up, watching a fun movie and eating too much pizza and snacks.  :)

(Callum was even allowed to join their gaming session the next morning, which was quite sweet since he adores all of these big kids to pieces)  :)
