Shark goggles!

Found Logan some goggles today - hoping he might be more inclined to practice his under water swimming with them on (and the fact that Robert wears them to class - peer pressure - doesn't hurt!). :)

Legos!

In the foreground, my feeble attempt at "Mom, make me a monster truck."

Post swim class

One minute we were talking about the Olympic cycling race we were watching, the next minute I looked over and this is what I saw.  :)

Strawberry Shortcake

Threw together a quick dessert and suddenly rose to favorite parent of the year.  ;-)

Loganism of the morning

Jon: Do you want some juice?

Logan: Yes, but not poisonous juice.

New naptime bedding

I'm really excited about this recent purchase I made (just arrived in the mail today). These are quilted sheets with light fleece blankets attached. They also have a little pocket for a favorite animal and a sleeve for a little pillow. On the back side (which you can't really see) there are elastic straps at each corner, to wrap around the corners of the school's cot or mat during naptime.

They are machine washable and roll up with a little handle on the outside for easy portability. Just perfect! :)

Releasing the butterflies

Earlier this evening, we released our little beauties outside - so neat! They quickly fluttered away - but the last one decided to hang out a bit longer on Jon's cheek and neck before he took off.  :)

First, a few close ups (through the plastic of the habitat, so not super duper crisp but you get the idea!)  Aren't they just gorgeous?!

And then here we are releasing them in our backyard!  :)

Hopefully they mate and create a few more little guys around our neighborhood this summer!  :)

Piggy Bank

I found some old Eisenhower dollars I had saved when I was a kid, but I guess this piggy bank was made after their circulation had stopped...

Butterflies!

We've got 5 gorgeous painted ladies hanging out in our butterfly habitat. They are so neat! I may be more excited about them than the boys. ;-)

There are actually 3 pictured here, but the two sitting on the bottom of the habitat, are camouflaged.

Just another Friday night

Logan asked if he could see Robert, but he was very insistent that Robert come visit him at his house instead of going to Robert's house. I'm not sure why exactly but Logan was very excited to show Robert all of his tiny Legos, and have Robert sleep on the top bunk in his room (because, he said, Robert likes the top bunk better), so I'm guessing it was one of those two reasons.

We had a nice evening with the four boys playing to their heart's content. Once the boys were down to sleep, Jenn and I caught up on life and Jon and Jarrod played a friendly game of poker with a few other guys who dropped by.

Face (or arm) painting

Stopped into Trader Joe's for a few groceries after swim class and they had a face painting stand. Logan is in heaven.

Swim class!

Logan and Robert's first swim class in a VERY long time. We tried a different place this time and I really liked it! (they've got an outdoor pool which was perfect for the 98 degree weather today but will be interesting to see if it's still this gorgeous in cooler weather!). :)

Both boys did REALLY well. I was impressed, especially since I was expecting Logan to throw a fit and scream at the teacher but instead we saw a couple little smiles. :)

Career Week

Last week Logan's class focused on all sorts of careers and invited parents to visit and share their career with the kids.  One of the fathers came to share with the kids and they took a few pics afterward.  The dad was a particularly big hit with the boys.

Logan liked the visit and I expected he'd talk about being a policeman after this, but when asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he says:  A Super Hero.  ;-)

Loganism of the day

Dinosaurs are unstink, right Mommy?

Imitation is the best form of flattery

Callum saw how Logan was laying on the bed (holding his face in his hands, Logan just changed his pose before I snagged the pic) so Callum decided to do the same.

Super cute. :)

Playdate

We just got home from a few hours of great fun with Logan's friends Isaac and Julia! Isaac and Logan were super best buds at school, but about a month ago, Isaac left to start summer camp and get ready for kindergarten this fall. Julia is still at Logan's school (and also a good friend of Logan's) so we still see her and her mom occasionally, but the boys have missed each other.

The boys had constantly begged us moms to get together at each others' house, so we finally arranged the play date today and met up at a park first, to let all the kids run around, and then chow down on pizza afterward. All four kids (Callum was with us too) had a blast. :)

I haven't really done play dates with school friends at all, so it was interesting for me to get to know another parent, outside of our close circle of friends, in depth (more than the usual chit chat at school during pick up, I mean).  And, it was nice to meet another family who seem as laid back and down to earth (if not more!) as us - so I think we'll probably get together again sometime soon, which will be nice. :)

Chrysalids

We just moved our five little cocoons to our butterfly garden tonight. Pretty soon we'll have some beautiful butterflies! :)

Cool down

After so much fun swimming, the boys (and parents) needed some time to just chill. What a great night! Thanks again Jenn and Jarrod!

Swimming!

We often times get together with the Jodoins for dinner on Tuesday nights. It was so hot yesterday, Jenn suggested we have dinner at their house instead, so everyone could enjoy some pool time. So nice!! :)

Tough

Logan inherited a cool light-saber-like sword from my work. He totally hates it. ;-)

More proof I gave birth to a monkey

I found Callum up on the top bunk this evening yelling "Big jump Mommy! Big jump!"

He has no fear. At least, until he falls and cracks his head. ;-)

Summer biology project

We have 5 new little critters (growing) in our house for a few weeks, until they turn into butterflies and we let them go. :)

Ultimate share

As the boys grow out of their toys, and/or just don't play with some anymore, I move them to the garage "staging area" before Jon finds them a new home - generally the Salvation Army but lately he's been giving away many of our nicer sets of toys to a coworker who's got a little one year old boy.

Yesterday, that family invited us to a birthday party for their just-turned-one boy Henry, and we brought a bunch more toys to hand down.

The cool thing is, Logan is starting to learn and understand my process of giving our unused toys away. Now, he likes to walk around the house, pick out a toy that hasn't been getting any use (often times his brother's toy!) and inform me he's going to put it in the garage to give away to other smaller kids. I love that! :)

That's gonna leave a black eye

Callum took a nasty spill today and smashed his face into the siding of the sandbox.  Luckily, he didn't break it, but I'm sure it's going to leave a nice bruise for a few days! ;-)

Prep work

Making chocolate-mint ice cream tonight. :)
