This pic popped up on my Facebook memories, when I posted it 5 years ago.
I asked Logan who it was, and he said, "That's Callum's tiny little scrumptious face."

Loganism of the day
I forgot to post this yesterday, but when Callum called out for my help, from the bathroom, Logan decided to check on him for me.
After he was done helping Callum out, Logan came by back into the room and looked at me, quite seriously, "Mom, you really need to teach Callum how to wipe his butt."

Loganism of the week
When we walked outside this morning, the boys were greeted by two humongous piles of rock (base layers for the grass we're having installed this week).
Logan immediately said, "What the heck! I thought we were all done with work on the house!!"
Ahhhhh, if only. ;-)

Loganism of the year, perhaps?
While out running errands today, Callum asked if he and Logan came from the same egg and grew inside me together at the same time. I said no, that they were separate eggs and grew (and were born) at different times.
Logan, starting to put two and two together these days *I GUESS*, said:
"So, you and Dad had sex two times?"
Yes, that's right.
(But seriously folks - where the hell did that come from?!?)

Loganism of the week
Earlier this week, with his mouth stuffed to the brim, crumbs falling out as he spoke, Logan asked me:
"Mom. These Girl Scout Cookies are so delicious. Mom! HOWARETHEYSOGOOD?" 🍪😋😂😂

So dang hot!
Wow we sure aren't used to the hot weather!!
After our (yummy!) breakfast, we drove a short distance to check out Hanalei Bay - which was absolutely gorgeous but by 9am we were already sweating under that searing sun! :)
So Mom and Dad sought out a tiny spot of shade while the boys played in the sand/water building sand castles and gleefully laughing every time the waves would wash ashore and run over their latest creation.
Once Jon and I had enough sun, we dragged them back to the car and headed back into town to do a little (window) shopping. The boys weren't as patient waiting in the hot sun for us as we were for them out on the beach. Funny how that works out isn't it? ;-)
We got Jon some new flip flops and I got the boys some shark teeth necklaces as a fun (albeit touristy, I know) souvenir (they are both really into sharks lately - especially Callum). :)
We got back to our hotel to relax in the room for a bit and unwind before we head out to the pool (Logan wants to practice snorkeling - which I'm pleased as punch about, since he's taken up such a big interest in a favorite activity of mine!).
All of this was done well before Noon. Just the other day, Logan had a fabulous Loganism of the Day, which would apply to today too:
"The days here seem very very very long." (He made this observation after a lovely breakfast, swim at the pool, full day of ATV riding and shave ice after - and observing more out of wonderment than complaint of course.) ;-)

Loganism of the month
We have some exciting news!! We just purchased a new home. :)
We've been discussing a potential move for years, since Jon has endured a ridiculously long commute for way too long. Our discussions became a bit more serious after Callum was diagnosed and I quit my job. The universe was telling us - there were less and less reasons to stay in the South Bay and more and more reasons to move further North.
On top of all that, while we've been "okay" with Logan's school, we haven't been AMAZED by them. We had a few stumbles with them when Callum was diagnosed that, let's just say, left a bad taste in our mouths - and I've been worried they'd be - less than easy - to work with, once the time came to enroll Callum into school.
(I don't think I ever blogged about it, but suffice to say, we received one of those template letters from the principal/district at the end of the school year last year, reprimanding us for a "truant" child [Logan, who was in KINDERGARTEN], and that if it repeated again this year, they'd report us to the District Attorney's office.
I, of course, blew up and sent a very stern letter back to the principal, telling her that that type of communication was completely unacceptable, inappropriate and ridiculous, that they should think about picking up the phone and calling me instead, that I never wanted to see another letter like that from them again... And basically, to give me a fucking break. I might've thrown the Cancer card around once or twice as well.)
So, while I am always nosily (is that a word?) drooling over, and daydreaming about, gorgeous houses that we can never afford, I was also back to the drawing board with schools, and had started touring and interviewing a number of private options near us, given we have different - and special - needs for our kids now.
At the same time that I was touring schools (because January is basically the enrollment period for most schools), we had some surprising activity pick up with a potential house (which we had placed an offer on during the holidays but had gone nowhere) in the background. Jon, being the amazing hardass negotiator that he is, crafted a wonderful deal for us, and we closed on the new house this week. :)
As Logan has so perceptively noted - the new house is (crazy) close to Callum's hospital (which means, to Logan, less driving to and from the hospital for visits when we stay overnight, or day trips for me and Callum to see the drs), closer to Jon's work (which means, to Logan, more time that Daddy can now spend at home), and has better schools (which means, to Logan, less bullies - another topic I won't get into now but take a wild guess at what bothers him about his current school!). He (and therefore Callum as well) approved of our decision.
I hope that Logan is still young enough that he'll bounce back quickly from a big transition (home and school life) like this. And since Callum hasn't yet started Kindergarten, moving to this new school vs. any other wouldn't have been much different in terms of transitions. I hope this will be the place that all of the boys' childhood memories will stem from, when they are old.
So, while we're super sad to leave our amazing neighborhood we live in now, the number of wins we gain from this move can't be ignored.
All that said, we won't actually move immediately! We plan to stay here and finish Logan's school year, before we move to the new home. This will also allow us time to do some remodeling work, which we can't do while Callum lives there anyway.
Two birds! Bam Bam!
(Plus, I might as well throw another project on my plate, right?)
Wow Bree, this story is really great and I'm happy to hear you've found a new home. But what does all this have to do with the Loganism of the month, you ask?
Well.
Yesterday, I took Logan up with me to see the new house and his new school (for registration). I brought his iPad with us so that he could play a few games while we were at the house (since my Dad, brother and I had to take measurements to begin planning for the remodel).
At one point, Logan came up to me with his iPad in hand -
~~~~~~~~~
This place won't let me play Boom Beach. (a favorite online iPad game of his)
Yes, that's because we don't have Internet access here.
Well then, I don't want to move here.
~~~~~~~~~
Ahhhh, kids. ;-)
I hope to take a number of before/after pics to document our remodeling project along the way. Stay tuned for the next chapter(s) of our wild adventure!

Callumisms and Loganisms
This was taken last night at the hospital, toward the end of Logan's visit, when they were winding down (or, at least, I was trying to get them to wind down!). ;-)
There were a few "isms" mentioned during this time which I thought were pretty funny....
Logan: I agree with Mom.
Me: What do you agree with me on?
L: He's [Callum] being way too loud.
----
Logan: Why are there so many commercials?!
Me: Because you're watching live TV.
L: Well I hate live TV.
----
Callum: Mama, it's dark outside. They [Logan and my dad] should go home and we should go to sleep.
----
And then today, after Logan got home from camp, he announced to me:
I gave Callum a dollar because he promised to be my best friend forever and crossed his heart too.
:)

Me: When bananas get old, they turn soft.
Logan: Oh, so just like you Mommy!

Day 2 Report
Today, Logan was very excited and proud to show me TWO "badges" (what
he calls them), which he received today for good behavior.
Mom, I got TWO of them!! I was so good!
I don't know if I've mentioned before, but Logan is attending a dual
language immersion program (Spanish and English).
So, I asked him if he learned any Spanish today. His response?
"All they make us do is work, work, work, instead of teaching us about Spanish."
:)
For his Kinder assessment last week, there were a couple of Loganisms
that my mom thought I should blog about. ;-)
First, the teacher asked Logan to write his name.
Logan says, "My first name? Or my last name?"
The teacher says "Oh! You can write your last name?"
No. Just my first name.
Ok, write your first name then. Do you know your last name?
Connally Shipman.
What?
My name is Logan Connally Shipman.
(I swear I did not plant that one! LOL)
Then, toward the end of the assessment, the teacher asked Logan,
"Hablas espanol?"
He answered, "Tres."
As you can imagine, I had a hard time stifling my laughs during some
of the test. ;-)
Sadly, we've already dealt with some major disappointment after only
two days. When I picked him up from school yesterday, he didn't have
his lunchbox. Come to find out, he lost it. So, this morning I looked
high and low in the various lunch baskets since his teacher said there
were some left overnight. But no, his brand new fancy Angry Birds
lunchbox was nowhere to be found. :(
Logan was actually really upset about it which made for a rougher drop
off this morning. Thankfully, he was in a good mood when I picked him
up tonight (but still no lunchbox!).

Loganism of last night
"You're not making my life better Mom, you're making it worse!"
Ilovemykids. Ilovemykids. Ilovemykids.
This was actually said last night but I was too pooped to blog about it. The good news, I guess, is that we made up and he apologized for what he said. Still, nights like those are tough being a parent (and I fully realize this is just the beginning of those mean statements - ugh!!).

Loganism of the evening
Jon was trying to explain to Logan that we, as parents, would die, to
protect him or Callum; that our lives are less valuable to us, than
their lives.
"But Daddy, how did we get into this conversation?"
(I was wondering the same). ;-)

Adding to the list of questions I'd prefer Jon to field (and my
parents never had to answer) is, "Mom, what is the Internet?"

Loganism of the evening
On the topic of homework (and in this case, working on his lettering
worksheets):
Mom, I'm 5. I don't need to practice anymore.
Yes, you do. Everyone has to practice, even Mommy and Daddy.
What? When can you stop practicing? Oh I know. When you're dead.
