Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton

Our third stop was at Stow-on-the-Wold, which I think is the largest of the Cotswolds. Sadly, almost everything was closed up for the day (except for a couple of restaurants here and there), since we had arrived so late... so, we didn't stay long at all, just long enough to walk to the town center and back, and get a feel for the place.

Last on our list was Chipping Norton (we essentially drove in a circle from Woodstock, around a few of the Cotswolds villages, and then back)... we stopped there since a famous actor that Jon and the boys like (Jeremy Clarkson) lives there (or at least, owns a home there) and they wanted to see what all the hubbub was about. It's also, apparently, pretty popular since it's the "gateway" into the Cotswolds (from Oxford, we presume), so many people do visit it.

We actually liked this town quite a bit, and because it was now nearing past dinner time for us all, we stopped at a yummy little local place (the Whistlers) for a pizza and soup dinner!

I took a pic of the outside because Callum wants to make sure we remember this place, so that "when we come back to England, we can come here again". 😍

Our next stop was the "Venice of the Cotswolds", or Bourton-on-the-Water. It was a very romantic town with several bridges throughout the center of town.

But first! We stopped at the Dragonfly maze and puzzle which the kids loved solving... as well as a local artist's pottery shop... and then a cup of ice cream to walk with, and tide us over, until dinner time. ;-)

Today, we explored the infamous Cotswolds!! This is an area of the English countryside filled with many different picturesque villages from the medieval times, built in the local limestone you see from all the yellowish brown colored buildings! :)

Our first stop was Burford - a really great town built on a hill, so climbing to the top are some gorgeous views. I took a few pics of the view but they just don't look like the real deal. I guess you'll have to visit yourself to see it! ;-)

Logan took to a cheese shop, that he had to return to, to buy some more local cheese... just before lunch, which we had in a cute little pub called The Cotswold Arms.

We're staying in a really cute town called Woodstock. After Logan and Jon finally woke up, we ate a bite at a nice little coffee shop around the corner from our hotel and then walked around the streets of the town for a bit, before heading out to the Cotswolds today! :)

The first couple of pics were from the rest of Callum and my morning, in the restaurant downstairs. And the last pic is a shot of our hotel from the street!

A full English breakfast

Daddy and Logan are still snoozing. 😴 So Callum and I are checking out the Full English Breakfast option while we wait for them to wake!

The Punchbowl

We finally made it to our little B&B, in a super cute town called Woodstock, where the Blenheim Palace is located. I love this first pic - the boys were pleasantly surprised with our room and couldn't get over how BIG the room was. And then they saw the bathroom: "Mom!! You have to come in here and check out how big this bathroom is!!" Suffice to say, we have a nice amount of room compared to our teeny tiny place in London where you could hardly turn around without bumping into each other. 🀣

The town of Windsor

The town of Windsor is so cute and picturesque! We walked around after our visit to the castle and found a yummy Greek place to enjoy our dinner.

Windsor Castle

Because of the ridiculous delay to get our rental car, we had to ditch our plans to meet a friend for lunch. Instead, we raced to Windsor Castle to just barely sneak in before the gates closed - and were amazed by the sites as we explored the chapel and state apartments. We stayed until the castle closed - but, our tickets are good for a year! So we might be able to come back for another visit down the road. πŸ‘πŸΌ

I wasn't at all surprised this morning, when the kids slept in so late, given how big of a day we had yesterday, how late we went to bed, and of course, battling jet lag in general.

Luckily, we didn't have very big plans today - just to have a lazy morning, pack and check out, head to Heathrow to meet Jon who arrived late morning, pick up our rental car and then head out of town!

Sadly, the wait for our rental car was RIDICULOUS. We were there for over 2 hours waiting to check in, get the car, and go! 😱 It was agonizing, really. But, we finally made it out of there in one piece (and one car). πŸ˜‰

The boys were over the moon to see their Daddy again!

(Jon flew in today, to meet up with us) ❤️❤️❤️

Who’s on first?

I feel like this restaurant is setting you up for a classic Abbott and Costello routine....

Where should we go?
To Eat....

Yummy breakfast!

Our place may not be too fancy but we all agreed the breakfast they provide is perfect!

The boys stirred every so often last night, but slept pretty well. Then 4:30am rolled around and Callum got up "to get dressed" because "once he's awake, he can't fall back asleep, Mom" 😁

So, we made the breakfast time with no issue, and are now on our way to explore the Tower of London!

Love our little ‘hood

Such a fun and vibrant little 'hood we're staying in!

Earl’s Court

We are staying, literally, around the corner from the Earl's Court tube station, and the location, vibe, and overall neighborhood couldn't be more perfect for us! (The hotel leaves something to be desired but we don't need much so that's low on the priority list!)

After we got some food in our bellies, we explored a few of the streets, with Callum - usually - leading the way with his wiggly dancing butt. ;-)
