Callumism of the evening

"Mom, I actually still love you, even when I'm mad at you."

Phew!! 😜

Callumism of the morning

Callum looked outside this morning and saw that it was cloudy and overcast.

He said to me, "I love these cold and wet days!"

Oh really, why?

Because the slides are a lot faster when they're wet!

Boys!! 😱

Callumism of the middle of the night

Mama, my bed is warm, but not warm enough. Can I sleep in your bed?

Callumism of the evening

"When I'm full, and someone says dessert, then I get hungry again."

Callumism of the morning

"Mommy - do you know why you're one of my and Logan's slaves?"

Why?

"Because we tell you what we want you to make and then you make it."

And with that, Mother's Day is officially over. ;-)

Today's Callumisms

I guess Callum was on a roll today as we have not one, but TWO, Callumisms to report on (or perhaps I was actually paying attention for once!). ;-)

The first was said to Logan: But Logan, it's very hard for me not to tell secrets.

I had to chuckle at this one, since it's very true.

The second was said to me: When boys turn into Daddies they're still boys. So actually, you have three boys.

Also true. So very very true. ;-)

Callumism of the day

Mom, did you know spiderwebs come from spider butts?

Callumism of the day

I haven't done one of these in awhile but this was a good one. Callum is fighting a head cold so we're taking it easy this morning and lounging in my bedroom, playing video games.

He was struggling with a particular level and, while throwing the remote down in a huff he says to me, "Mom, I can't beat this level because I ate some Cheerios! It's all your fault."

No matter what, you can't win with these guys. ;-)

Callumism of the year?

(As we pulled into the CVS parking lot)

C: Where are we going?

Me: We're going to pick up some medicine.

C: For who?

Me: For you.

C: I want to get some medicine for Logan. Because I already have enough medicine.

Truer words were never spoken. :)

Callumisms and Loganisms

This was taken last night at the hospital, toward the end of Logan's visit, when they were winding down (or, at least, I was trying to get them to wind down!). ;-)

There were a few "isms" mentioned during this time which I thought were pretty funny....

Logan: I agree with Mom.

Me: What do you agree with me on?

L: He's [Callum] being way too loud.

----

Logan: Why are there so many commercials?!

Me: Because you're watching live TV.

L: Well I hate live TV.

----

Callum: Mama, it's dark outside. They [Logan and my dad] should go home and we should go to sleep.

----

And then today, after Logan got home from camp, he announced to me:

I gave Callum a dollar because he promised to be my best friend forever and crossed his heart too.

Callumism of the morning

After asking him to fetch me the remote:

Why do Logan and I have to do ALL the work?!

Callumism after naptime

Callum awoke abruptly from his afternoon nap, clearly upset from a bad dream. I came into his room to check on him.

Me: Are you ok buddy? Did you have a bad dream?

C: Yes. In my dream, my butt hurt. Someone took my lotion and my butt hurt.

(I often put a cream on his butt, which he also calls medicine since the doctors gave it to us, to help with any sores he gets from frequent bathroom visits!)

Me: Oh no. Does it hurt now?

C: No, it was just in my dream Mommy. But I also had my iPad in my dream, and it wasn't working!! (whimper)

Me: Wow, that sounds terrible.

Callumism of the night

Callum just threatened me that if I didn't get him his iPad, he wouldn't sleep in my bed tonight.

Could it be?!? ;-)

Callumism of the night

Callum is sleeping in my bed tonight and just said to me:

Mommy, I love you but I need some blankets.

I guess I, or the dogs, were hogging them all. :)

Callumism of the day

"Medicine doesn't hurt. It just tickles me. Only pokies hurt me."

Said after today's clinic visit where we had his weekly lab draw to check his blood counts. Unfortunately, his numbers are down, which means he's neutropenic again (and means this next week we'll be a bit more on lock down).

What a bummer. But this is our life!

Here's a pic I took yesterday after picking up another used play structure for the yard. This one is a little bigger than the other one, which he's rapidly outgrowing as his strength from the old days return. :)

Callumism of last night

Last night all Callum wanted to do was tackle me and then get showered with tickles until he couldn't breathe. The way he asked, however, was pretty funny.

"Mommy, when you're done with your dinner, can I sit on your face and you tickle me?"

:)

Callum started a little cough and runny nose earlier this week and unfortunately, I think I've now caught it. :( He's doing pretty well, other than the cough (which, if it gets worse, the drs may delay his LP procedure on Monday, so we'll be playing things by ear).

I, on the other hand, have been hit pretty hard with the cold - it started late Thursday evening and got worse through the day yesterday. So, I'm taking advantage of the weekend where Jon can help out, and trying to lay low and rest as much as possible. The last thing we want is for me (or Callum) to be miserably sick while in the hospital next week. :/

Callumism of the morning

Early in the morning, about 6:30am I think, Callum crawled into bed with me to lay down for a bit. I was so thankful since he normally wants to get up and move around (and eat) and I'm not ready to wake up yet. ;-)

Later, about 7am I'd guess, he was still half asleep, but his spidey senses (and ears) perked up when he heard the microwave beeping. (As it so happens, Grandpa Ito was awake and warming up his cup of coffee).

Callum sat straight up, looked at me and said, "Mommy! Someone else is also hungry!"

:)

Callumism under steroids

Even when Callum is not eating, he's thinking about food.

Every night, when he wakes up (several times) to go potty, he makes a point to talk to Jon about what he wishes he could be eating right now, or what he'd like to make sure Daddy will prepare for him the following morning once the sun is up.  :)

We've gotten used to these bizarre conversations, but today's topped the cake, I think.

While hanging out on the couch, watching a movie this afternoon, Callum turns to me and says:

Mommy, let's play a game.

Ok, what kind of game would you like to play?

Let's play - guess what you're going to eat.

Ummm, ok.  How about my grape juice?

Nope, that's not it Mommy.  Guess again.

Uhhh, my soup?

No, Mommy.  I want you to try some (pita) chips with beans.  They are very yummy.

Callumism of the day

After he ate a bowl of broccoli, I told him let's take a break, and reminded him of when his belly hurt after eating too much yesterday (and the day before). His response?

"My belly already hurts. But I want to eat my Macaroni and Cheese. I want to eat it right now!"

PSA: Rationalizing with a 3 year old hardly ever works. Rationalizing with a 3 year old on steroids never works.

Callumism of the day

Mommy, I'm not sick. My *blood* is sick!

I guess some of what we have been telling him is sinking in...
