Plants vs. Zombies!

We decided to hit the streets a bit early this year since we have a dry spell in between all this rain. :)

At the parade

Another Mom took this one of Logan in character. I'm cracking up at the sideways leg because he told me this morning that zombies walk with their legs turned in, but it kinda hurts a little. LOL :)

Second School Halloween Parade in the works!

Hospital visit and October fun

Our oncology check up went well (counts a little low but nothing the team is worried about) so now we're checking out the nearby pumpkin patch (saw it driving to the hospital so Callum asked to stop by after we were done). :)

Hanging out

Callum's class was exposed to Hand, Foot and Mouth last week so I kept him home again and we're just hanging out. Decided to walk to the local "coffee shop" since we've got someone over doing some work in the garage and I figured we should get out for a bit. :)

He's still got a bit of a loud cough from his head cold, but otherwise seems to be in really great spirits!

Camping night

The boys are camping in the den tonight, fireside and all! We'll see how this works out. ;-)

Head cold

Monday morning, Callum woke up with a snotty nose, poor guy. :( He's been fighting this little head cold like a champ tho - he's actually in a pretty good mood, even amidst the congestion (and now minor cough he's developed). We've gotta keep a close eye on him of course, but so far we've been fine (no fevers or yellow/green snot).

So here we are, cuddling on the couch, watching The Nightmare Before Christmas (Callum's choice!). :)

I forgot to mention that Monday was our 7 month anniversary of the day Callum was diagnosed. I really wouldn't have thought much about it, but I had scheduled a massage on Monday (since my back has been a bit sore this last week) and the lady who saw me remembered me from March - when I went to get a massage a couple of days after Callum's diagnosis.

I was, of course, in a daze back then and could just briefly tell her about Callum before keeping quiet the rest of my appointment. She was very sincere in wanting to know how Callum was doing and immediately asked me (said she had been wondering/thinking about me since my last massage!). It's amazing what 7 months can do - since this time around I was chatty and happy and able to tell her all that we've been through and what a champ my little guy is. It felt good to recognize... we really have come a long way. :)

Bike riding!

Callum asked to go bike riding after picking Logan up from school today so that's what we're doing!

More progress

My flower wire isn't thick enough to hold up (and out) the "peas" like I'd like. So I'll need to find something stronger to support them...

Kids & Art

Just dropped the boys off to this art workshop today - there's an artist in from NYC visiting to present to the kids. I thought they'd enjoy a couple of hours of art activities, we'll see how it goes! ;-)

Patience is a virtue

Note the fork in Callum's hand. He fell asleep waiting for his Monkey Bread to finish baking. :)

Logan, on the other hand, is literally counting down the seconds.

More drying time....

Paper mâché dry time

Good thing for this Indian Summer we're having! My projects are drying in no time! ;-)

Gettin' my craft on!

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

As you can see, I'm catching up on a few blog posts! ;-)

Last night Jon and I had the opportunity to go see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! It was so nice to get out without the kids and enjoy the concert! :)

Swimming

Haven't posted a pic of swimming class in awhile but both boys continue to love it. In fact, Callum asked today if I could sign him up for more. ;-)

Here he is, goofing around after his class yesterday. He loves to swing and climb on the railings as you can see here, as well as jump off the steps and try to swim a few feet under water. I can tell his antics make the guards a little nervous so I try to limit it, but I love how much fun he has and how much he is willing to explore and practice his newfound skills these days. :)

A different schedule

I got my first email, of likely many, from another mom in Callum's class, responding to a notice I sent out begging parents to let me know if/when their kids get the nasal flu spray this season. Unfortunately her daughter got the nasal spray just the day before (had she known about our situation earlier she said she would've gotten the shot no problem - which I thought was good to know, since I was unsure about sending a notice out at all!).

Luckily for us! The girl has a part time schedule like Callum, so there's some flexibility that we can work around, by still coming to school on her off days! :)

Here we are at the park, waiting for Callum's soccer class to begin!

Family Field Trip!

Logan had an in service day today, so we headed up to the Curiodyssey Museum and Zoo again, since our passes expire at the end of the month. The boys had a lot of fun exploring (here they are building a dam at the water/sand table). We tried a nearby playground after, but it was super duper hot so I called it quits after about 20 min in the heat.

I thought frozen yogurt would be a nice treat with the heat so I did a quick search for nearby places, and found one rated really well! But didn't pay attention that it wasn't your typical frozen yogurt chain, and instead some foodie Greek yogurt (not frozen but fresh) place. It was still delish but not exactly what I had promised the kiddos (and Logan declined having any). Ah well.

They both fell asleep on the way home and 2.5 hours later, Callum is still napping! Phew, what a day!!

A new yogurt place

Callum and I are loving this fresh Greek jougert concoction!

(Logan, not so much, the junk foodaholic) ;-)

Looking good!

We had a great visit with Callum's medical team today (he's now doing monthly exams to make sure all is on track). They're very pleased with how well he's looking and acting. His blood counts look great too (we have to still keep those up every couple of weeks) - he's right in the middle of the range that we want to target while in maintenance. :)

Here he is, walking out of the hospital, playing on his iPad. Like a boss.
