The neighborhood I drive through near Logan and Callum's school has many beautiful trees that are bright in reds, yellows and oranges right now. This pic doesn't do it justice, so you'll just have to take my word for it. ;-)

Any day now...

Late last week Callum's teachers (and we) started noticing Mr. Callum "rocking" on all fours.  He continued practicing a bit through the weekend, whenever I'd set him on the floor.

When I picked him up from school today, there he was, in the middle of the classroom floor, on his hands and knees, rocking back and forth, doing everything he could to will himself closer to the toy (strategically placed) in front of him.  When he got tired, his legs would give out and he'd fall onto his tummy, but then 2 seconds later I'd see him POP his knees up under him to support his weight again.  BAM.

He did this several times in the span of a few minutes, which makes me (and one of his teachers, Danielle) think that he could be crawling any day now.  We'll see!

Fort Building Time

Logan decided to prop all of the couch pillows and Callum's "tummy time" activity mat together to lay on, on the floor.  He then spent quite a bit of time talking to and playing with his toys, using that wild imagination of his to no end!

 

Surgery Update

I've been doing really well, each day I'm feeling better and better.  I think I started working a bit too soon after the surgery (I did a phone interview two days after.  It was from home, but still, even that took a lot out of me!), so I had to take it a lot easier with work than I was prepared to do.  Luckily, work (and specifically, my boss) is very understanding!  I finally went into the office this last week for a few hours the first couple of days - felt pretty spent so stayed home again all day Wednesday and then went back in Thursday and Friday for nearly full days in the office.

Sadly, I've been feeling pretty worn, bruised and sore over the weekend - which I wasn't feeling so much the first couple of weeks (mostly then it was fatigued, nauseous and dizzy/woozy - I think the after effects of the general, to be honest).  So, I'm a tad worried what this next week will bring.  I'll just have to take it as easy as I can I think.

On the flip side, Jon has been doing TERRIFIC as Mr. Mom these past couple of weeks - but he's finally starting to reach his threshold toward the end of this last week, as he got hit with a head cold and hasn't been feeling great.  So, mix that with full-on kid duty 24x7 and you have one crabby Daddy.  :(  I've been helping as much as I can - like feeding Callum in his high chair once Jon puts him in his seat, and handling most of the Logan duties, but it all still has its toll (don't we all know that!).  He has to work late tomorrow night, so even though it won't technically be my "two weeks of rest", we'll have to make do.  I think it's close enough that I'll be fine on my own with the kiddos.  I know Jon, for one, is counting the hours - no minutes - until I can help out with Callum once more.  ;-)

Family Visit

Abuelitos Riedy and Tia Sarah came to visit us this weekend.  We had a nice time visiting and generally eating too much food.  Isn't that how it always is when you're together with family?  ;-)

Friday night we ate at our favorite, La Milpa, where Tia Catherine and my parents joined us as well. It was Alicia and Paul's anniversary (technically Saturday, but we were celebrating on Friday) so Catherine also made a yummy carrot cake for dessert.

I forgot I brought my camera with me, but I did manage to get this awesome shot of my mom and Alicia together at dinner.  :)

And, I didn't take too many pics while visiting either, but I did manage to snag a couple of shots of the two boys with Abuelito and Abuelita before they had to take off to drive back home today.  As always, we had a great visit - thanks for coming!  :)
