MMA at an Early Age

Wow - look at how time flies by. I took a couple photos of Jon and Logan exactly one month ago - thinking I'd post them up a day or two later. And, sifting through my photos and blog posts tonight, found that I never got around to posting them up!

At any rate, I thought it would be cute to share. Jon watches most of the UFC fights on his computer, and I suppose because of the beautiful blondes in bikinis erratic movement and bright colors, or maybe because his Daddy screams and yells at the computer screen, Logan is just as intently interested in the matches as his Daddy (which is great as it usually buys me about 20 minutes of uninterrupted blogging time). ;-)

I found my heart in San Francisco

Just landed and now driving home. So glad to be back home. It may only be in the mid-50's here, but the blue skies and sunshine are a nice welcome home (and improvement from the crazy hail storms we had when I left!!). :)

Salt Water Taffy

We're not really close to any salt water, that I know of, yet there was TONS of salt water taffy at the vintage store we visited (under the Gateway Arch) which I just couldn't resist.

The store sold products that were available in the late 1800s... so in addition to the taffy, I also grabbed some jerky and "old fashioned" hard candy for Jon, and a wooden train whistle for Logan. Do I sound like the pathetic working parent who misses her family while on a business trip, or what? :)

Gateway to the West

My boss and I are currently (swaying) 630 ft above the ground. Taking pics of the city of St. Louis (with my iPhone). :)

'Mizourah'

I spent most of yesterday traveling out to the middle of America and was already missing Logan just a few minutes after dropping him off at school, before my flight out. I'll be here until tomorrow morning, enjoying the lovely view from my hotel room most of the time, and for a couple hours today, sitting at a client meeting.

So far, the trip out here has been uneventful and all has gone swimmingly. I was even able to hit up the gym for a little bit last night *and* hook up Internet access in my room (which didn't work for me the last time I was here), so look at me being all productive and shit.

Jon was wonderful last night, updating me on how Logan's day and evening at home with him went. He did fine, save for the continued teething he's been experiencing. I got a more grumpy call this morning however, since Logan seems to have started a bit of a cold and so the boys aren't feeling very well.

Funny, I felt one coming on myself last night and it's hit me full force this morning too. Thousands of miles away, and Logan has still managed to get me sick. ;-)

Spring Cleaning

Yesterday I spent a few hours cleaning out my closet. I've been putting it off for ohhhh, 6 months? ;-) Since, until yesterday, my closet has still been filled with maternity clothes! Quite embarrassing, I know.

So, I took advantage of Jon being out on errands and Logan taking an extremely long 3.5 hour nap, and finally did the switcheroo.

I must say, it was an exciting reunion for me. Maternity clothes are packed and ready for storage. Old clothes (some still tight *sigh*) are hung and ready to be worn again!

Ahhhhh how I missed you lovelies.

Workouts and Babysitting

Yesterday we had a couple more "firsts" that are blog-worthy.

I've finally been given the green light by my PT to start working out at the gym again, which is really exciting for me because I've just been so antsy at home and need an outlet to relieve the stress that builds up each day. I can't do anything as strenuous as Muay Thai (in fact, we just recently canceled my Muay Thai gym membership since I may never get to go back unfortunately), so it's still pretty low key stuff - mostly speed walking on the treadmill, or taking a ride on the stationary bikes, or participating in a couple classes like strength training or pilates. I am also allowed to do swimming - but I may wait till it warms up a bit before I get back into that. ;-) In any case, I made it to the gym and did a killer workout yesterday afternoon - which I paid for later last night (and this morning) with a really sore back. But it was still worth it! :) I'll just need to dial back on the workout next time around.

Logan also had his first "real" babysitter last night (i.e. the one where Mom and Dad shell out a lot of extra dough for the peace of mind that someone is caring and watching after him while we enjoy a few hours alone) and he LOVED it. Jon and I were invited to spend an adults-only night out with some friends to celebrate Jenn's birthday at Campo Di Bocce. Our default babysitters (my parents) happen to be out of town right now, so I asked Logan's teacher, Miss Kim, if she was available to babysit for us (almost all of the teachers at his school do babysitting on the side for some extra cash).

The minute she showed up last night, it was clear we weren't going to have a problem. Logan immediately forgot about Mommy and Daddy and just wanted to be held and carried around by Miss Kim (poor gal). He was very chatty and wanted to show her all of his toys which were scattered amongst the various rooms of the house. It was great! :) We were gone for about 4.5 hours and when we got back he was sound asleep. Kim said they had dinner and then just played all night long until bedtime. She was surprised at how easy it was to put him to bed for the night, saying "I wish he did that at school too!" (it's way more distracting and noisy at school so he always resists going down for naps during the day at school). After Logan was asleep, she even played with the dogs for a bit outside to let them stretch their legs and let out some pent up energy!

In any case, it was a great success and we had a wonderful night out. We probably won't use a babysitter that often, since it's expensive and my parents love watching him anyway, but it's really nice to know we have that option if we need it.
