A nearby house

Showoffs. ;-)

The things we do for our kids...

Logan has really enjoyed all of the Christmas lights going up around our neighborhood. We've taken a few short drives around the block to see the progress so far and he loves it. Since we're not doing a Christmas tree in the house (it's just too difficult with the cats and dogs), I really wanted to dress up our house with lights. But, seeing as how we've never done it before, there was a lot of legwork to be done, to install all of the hooks first BEFORE we could even get lights up!

So, me and my preggo belly spent about 3.5 hrs this afternoon in 40 degree weather, up and down the ladder, installing hooks along the entire front line of our house. After that, I put up the lights and called it a night. I still have some "fixing" to do, because it's not quite perfect. But, it looks pretty damn good for our first rough draft (if I do say so myself) and more importantly, I am beat! ;-)

Elephant

Last night my parents babysat Logan so that Jon and I could have a night on our own. It's been awhile since we've done that and it was really nice! We had a great dinner at one of our favorites, Thai Town, and then headed to see a movie (New Moon - neither of us cared much about).

When we dropped by this morning to pick Logan up, he was walking up and down the street with my dad, having a grand ol' time. He immediately dropped everything and came running toward our car when he saw us pull up - which always warms the heart. This time around, he had more trouble than usual getting used to the idea that he wasn't at home nor with his beloved Daddy (and Mommy). But my parents were still champs putting up with a few of his upset tantrums.

We've all been remarking at how quickly and how many words he's picking up day by day. He'll try one out for awhile and then move onto another word to use. He's really enjoying it. While changing him before taking off for lunch, he noticed his penis and pointed down at it exclaiming "ELEPHANT! ELEPHANT!" Once I put a new diaper on him he then said, "Bye Bye, Elephant!"

We all thought it was pretty hilarious. Especially since you can see how a little one might confuse the two. ;-)

"Mack"

Logan is finally starting to distinguish trucks from other cars (for a long time he just called them "big cars"). The funny thing is, sometimes he'll call them "Mack", especially when they are red trucks or Semis. If you watch Pixar's "Cars" as much as we now do, you'll know why. ;-)

Luck in 3s

Three marvelous things happened today.

1) Logan slept in until 7:30am this morning. Unheard of! (he's been doing GREAT with the toddler bed!!)

2) Our neighbor dropped by to give me a bag full of hand-me-downs that her two boys have finally outgrown (asking me - Bree, do you take hand-me-downs? HELL YEAH we take hand-me-downs! Bring it!)

3) Our housekeepers found my lost car key of a couple of months. We had finally resigned to the idea that it was lost forever. NO IDEA where they found it but HALLELUJAH because it also had my unspent Starbucks card attached to it. ;-)

Transitioning to a toddler bed

10 days away from home, seeing family from all sides, was wonderful. But, it was still 10 days away from home. Though it was sad to say goodbye to everyone today, it's great to finally be back home.

I have approx. 300 photos to sift through, not to mention several stories to tell, about our trip to New Mexico and Texas over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'll have to save those for another night when I am not as tired.

But in the meantime, one quick post to let everyone know we're now home safe and sound. And what's more, we decided to change Logan's crib to a toddler bed tonight, to start getting him used to sleeping in a "bigger" bed. We figured since he had already gotten so used to sleeping on a mattress on the floor at Nolan and Doy's house this past week, this might be the right time. It's also getting harder, with a growing belly, to bend over and put him down in his crib each night.

Jon put him down tonight without much fuss at all - crossing our fingers that it continues! :)

Full on Thanksgiving

Logan's bed is a mattress on the floor with a ton of pillows propped up around him since he moves so much (the first night he made his way under the bedside table!). Here he is sleeping in after HUGE festivities with family coming and going all day yesterday. Two of Jon's brothers and two of his sisters are here visiting as well, not to mention cousins galore.

There has been more food than imaginable, football nonstop on TV (it is Texas afterall) and fun and games with our loved ones. Hope everyone else has had an excellent Thanksgiving as well!
