Happy New Year!

While it may be winter, we've been having a few sunny and pleasant days where the boys are enjoying the outdoors.

Logan is also IN LOVE with the long holiday vacation they've had (their school has been closed since Christmas Eve and won't be open again until this Tuesday).  Every morning, Logan wakes up and asks if it's another "stay home" day - and when we reply yes, he literally jumps for joy.  ;-)

All set to test out his new ride!

I'm gonna get you Mama! (He is actually VERY fast!)  :)

Year of the Tiger

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today begins the year of the Tiger and I couldn't be more excited to meet our own little tiger soon! Logan was born at 38 weeks; I'm now at 28 weeks.

Possibly 10 weeks and this little guy is already here?!? Insane!

As our usual Sunday tradition dictates, Jon picked up some delicious donuts and we all stuffed ourselves full of sugar and dough in the morning. Jon and Logan then hung out together while I took a nap (trying to get over the head cold that I've caught as a result of Logan's own sickness I think).

Every week, Logan's school sponsors a "Parent's Night Out", rotating between Friday and Saturday nights to watch the kids for a few extra hours while we parents can enjoy a date night alone. This evening, as it was Valentine's Day (and because Logan's usual babysitters, my parents, are out of town visiting my grandparents), we decided to try the Parent's Night Out for the first time. :) Poor Logan was NOT a happy camper when we dropped him off (I don't think it helped that he had just woken up from his nap about 45 minutes prior and was still a bit groggy) but thankfully, the teachers said he was fine after we left.

Jon and I didn't do anything spectacular - we caught a movie (The Wolfman - great cast but the movie was disappointing) and had a delicious dinner at a Vietnamese Pho house (special to us since our first date was at a Pho house). It was a nice treat to get out on our own but we also missed our Loganito. We ended up picking him up an hour earlier than planned. :)

Logan made us a cute little Valentine card from school - where he promptly ate part of the candy cane "heart" that was stuck to it before I could even look at the card. Oh well.

Logan also showered Lola (and her crate) with his favorite Legos and cars this weekend.

I bought iPhone covers for both Jon and I - can you tell which phone belongs to whom?

When we got home tonight, we had a lovely surprise waiting for us. One of the cats (I'm going to blame Iz) decided to bring us a dead mouse, to put on display in the middle of the living room.

Apparently he loves us that much (I'll spare you a pic).

Being Valentine's, I suppose it's the season of love (and gifts). And don't get me wrong, I love and adore all my boys.

But, I'm certain I could have done without the last gift and still had a wonderful day. ;-)

Twenty Ten, Here we come!

Happy New Year to all!! We rang in the new year last night with a number of our best and closest friends. Jenn prepared a wonderful yummy feast and the kids kept busy giving each other "sleigh rides" on Jamie's sleeping bag in the hallway (unfortunately my iPhone doesn't take great action shots, but you get the idea).

We successfully put all 6 kids down without issue, under one roof! What a great way to start off the new year is what I say. :) After the kids were asleep, the adults played a few games, talked and tried to stay awake to see the ball drop. ;-)

Today is also my dad's birthday - Happy Birthday Zabuton!! :)

We hope everyone has a wonderful Twenty Ten - I know we will! Of course, our biggest event to look forward to is the arrival of Logan's baby brother. We are so very excited and can't wait to meet him!! Hope everyone has a healthy and prosperous new year. :)

18-25 Mbps

Our install date was pushed up a few days early - woot!! We now have one of the fancy schmancy AT&T U-verse packages, complete with VoIP phone lines and ultra wicked fast Internet access. Who's your Daddy now, huh?!?

So of course, what's the first thing I do? Hop on my mac and start uploading all the pics I've taken over the last couple of weeks. Yeehaw!

It seems like ages since the holidays (when we found out Lola had lymphoma) or our visit to Marine World.... But I'm finally catching up. Here are a few teasers that are my faves.

Click on any of the pics to get to the album for more.

Oh, and in baby news, Logan slept another record 13.5 hrs last night!

He woke up a couple times in the middle of the night but still! We actually got to sleep in this morning (well, until 8am when the AT&T guy arrived but I'll take it!). I'm currently fighting another fucking when will it end annoying head cold, so any extra sleep is super key.

The last pic actually has a bit of a story to it, so I'll tell it before ending this post.

Logan has found a whole new world has opened up to him now that he's walking. He's able to get into a lot more things and explore the house in ways he never knew possible before.

During one of his explorations, he found our small kitchen stool (left out by Daddy most likely) and immediately started to climb up on top of it. It was interesting watching him figure out how small the surface of the top of the stool was and how he'd need to balance more carefully once he had all limbs on the top (since from there, he was trying to stand up).

So, what does he do next? He PUSHES THE STOOL over to the oven. You know, that thing with the handle bar that's at perfect height for a toddler to grab onto and pull himself up. And proceeds to pull himself up onto the stool, standing there on his tippy toes, trying to grab anything from the counter and stovetop that he could lay his little grubby hands onto. He tested out his new "perch" several times, up and down, up and down, as if to say Yesssssssss. Yes this will work verrrrrrrrry well.

I watched on with that sort of OH SHIT WE'RE SO SCREWED feeling at the pit of my stomach (which didn't stop me from taking a few pics of course).

He looked at me as if to say - yep, you are so screwed Mom. Because he actually grinned. To him, this new discovery was AWESOME.

24

Yesterday while I was at work, Jon called me to let me know Logan had taken another record number of steps - this time twenty!! Jon was a proud papa of course, and also wanted to gloat a bit that our little guy was doing all this walking for Daddy but would have none of it with Mom. *sigh*

What's more, when I got home from work - Jon reported that shortly after that record 20 steps, Logan did another big walking session - this time taking TWENTY FOUR steps, all the way from the front door to the middle of our living room (so, spanning almost 2 rooms!). Amazing stuff. :)

Still, on average, he probably only takes about 3-4 steps at any one time and prefers to crawl when he wants to get somewhere quickly. But, we've noticed he's taking more and more steps on his own to get from one object to another (or one person to another) in the room. It's fun watching him get better balanced, coordinated and figure it all out!

As you probably noticed from my previous post - we spent New Year's Day freezing our butts off at Marine World (I packed more than enough to keep Logan toasty warm, but forgot my own jacket in the process! Aiiieee!!). We went with the Chouns and Jodoins and had a lot of fun watching dolphins, elephants and stuffing our mouths full of kettle corn (not surprising, a food that Logan couldn't get enough of). Unfortunately, half of the park was closed because of the holiday season, but that didn't stop us from walking all over the place and even taking the kiddos down the snow hill on sleds! :)

We all upgraded our tickets for season passes, in the hopes that we'll visit again when the weather is MUCH warmer out. I took a number of pics, but will have to post those sometime later when we get our DSL back up and running (and I can login from my own computer rather than stealing a few precious minutes from Jon's work laptop).

After such a long day, Logan passed out pretty quickly when we got home. So, instead of meeting my family for dinner, we had my parents and Kai over for take-out at our house instead, to celebrate my Dad's birthday. We had a wonderful meal and a nice time visiting before everyone headed home to crash and get ready for work the next day.

Happy Birthday once more Zabuton!

New Years Eve Dinner

We had dinner tonight at the fine dining establishment called Fresh
Choice - a self-serve salad bar which is actually a great place to try
new foods with Logan.

His favorite? Chinese chow mein noodles. That's right, FRIED STARCH.

Gung Hei Fat Choi

It is now the Year of the Rat and our little golden pig wishes you all a Happy New Year. Gung Héi Fát Chōi or Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái! :)

Yesterday we had a big day!

We saw a movie at the theatres with Kim and Molly (Juno - highly recommend). It was really great -- twice a month the theatre hosts a "Diaper Day" movie for moms and babies to come and see. They keep the lights on low for you to see and parents can watch a movie with their babies. Since everyone has babies, it doesn't seem to be a big deal if one is crying or fussing. Most of the moms are usually nursing throughout the movie or walking the baby up and down the side aisles to calm them down while catching the flick. Kim and I really enjoyed it and will definitely be doing it again! :)

Once we got home, Logan got a bath -- then napped with Mommy in the afternoon. When Daddy got home we took off to the mall and then swung by Logan's grandparents house (Zafu and Zabuton) to say hi! :)

Here's another video of Logan -- spending some time with Zabuton (the formatting's off a bit but I'll fix that later):

Happy New Year!!

Yesterday was our 3-week check up and weigh in. Logan is almost one month old!! :)

Unfortunately, his weight hasn't increased enough. We had been weighing him on the scale at home all weekend long, so it wasn't a big surprise to us (he'd been keeping steady around the 8lb mark). At the dr's office, he weighed in at 8lbs, 2oz - which is a 1.5 oz gain over 5 days. Not good. :( Dr. Safir finally decided we needed to go to Plan B, which I knew was coming.

So, we have now started to supplement Logan's diet with formula. I'm still breastfeeding as much as I can, but then after every nursing we give him about 2oz or so of formula to beef him up with some extra calories that my breast milk just wasn't providing him. He's taken to the formula just fine and doesn't seem to care whether he's getting food from the boob or the bottle and whether it's breast milk or formula, which is a relief. I'm also continuing to pump just before we nurse so that we can still store as much breast milk as possible for when I have to return back to work (or when the grandparents want to do a night of babysitting!)

We weighed him this morning and he's gained a few ounces already from yesterday (we didn't do a "naked" weighing so not sure yet on his exact weight yet)!! So, even though it was really tough for me to face the fact that my breast milk isn't cutting it for Logan, I'm relieved to know that the formula is helping our little guy grow -- in the end, that's all that matters (and seeing him put on weight will definitely soften the emotional blow for me I think).

We had a really nice New Year's Eve at our friend's Jenn and Jarrod's last night. We had fajitas and just hung out with friends/kids/dogs. Julie and Jeff had to leave a bit early because it was pretty late for their daughter, Jamie. But Jon, Logan and I stayed and rang in the New Year with Jenn and Jarrod, playing a competitive game of Cranium (unfortunately the girls lost!). My parents are in NYC for my dad's 60th birthday today (Happy Birthday Dad!) -- they called from Times Square -- had an absolute blast. My dad used his usual charm in passing the police roadblocks, giving each cop a sob story about how he traveled all the way from California to see the ball drop when he turned 60. Amazingly, they let him thru and he and mom were right in the middle of all the action, standing with other folks that had been camped out in the cold since the early morning! :)

We hope everyone has a happy and prosperous 2008 -- we are definitely looking forward to it -- our first year with Loganito!
